Holy Esque to play Southampton on debut album tour
GLASGOW'S Holy Esque have announced the release of their long-awaited debut album At Hope's Ravine next week, followed by a Southampton date on a UK tour.
Bold is beautiful in the album;s messages of hope and grief, escape and yearning.
“These are songs about belonging, fear, love, self-doubt, dreams, religion, release, darkness versus light and escape – especially escape,” says singer Pat Hynes.
Holy Esque formed in Glasgow in 2011. Front man Hynes and keyboardist Keir Reid both grew up in post-war Lanarkshire new town East Kilbride, a place most usually known for its brutalist architecture and the birthplace of The Jesus & Mary Chain. Keyboardist Reid and drummer Ralph McClure met at the famed Glasgow School of Art and, finally, Hugo McGinley joined on guitar.
The quartet appear at Lennon's on Saturday April 23.
