Essential maintenance to online library services: 20-26 February.
Some library services are soon to be temporarily suspended while we upgrade our systems.
What’s happening?
To allow us to make essential improvements to your online library services a number of services will be unavailable from 4pm on Saturday 20 February. We’ll be back up and running on Friday 26 February.
The shutdown will allow us to upgrade the system and improve your online library catalogue including:
•Better search functions to find the books you want
•More personalised recommendations similar to Amazon
•The option to pay your library charges online
Which services will be affected?
The libraries will all be open as normal and you will still be able to use the computers in the libraries to access the Internet, although the following library services will not be available:
•Online library catalogue
•Online renewals
•Some in-library services including limited use of self checkouts no ebook service and no online music will be available from Freegal
What if I have a book due back during the system shutdown?
If you have a book that is due back while our services are down, then it is best to return or renew by 4pm on Saturday 20 February.
We won’t be issuing any fines for the period between 20-26 February but pre-existing fines will still apply. If you have reserved a book, we will extend the time you will be able to collect the book.
Why do I do if I need to speak to someone at the library?
Libraries are open as normal. If you are concerned about these changes or would like to speak to someone from your local library then visit us or call 023 8083 3007. Libraries staff will have very limited access to our systems while the work takes place so please bear with us if we can’t answer your queries right away.
